The incoming chief judge of the 4th Judicial District Court will be announced at a reception on Friday, Nov. 7, at the Bastrop Visitors Center.

The event, which begins at 1:30 p.m., will be the first formal judges' meeting ever held in Morehouse Parish. It will be followed by a brief reception with events to include: seeking encouragement for future meetings in Morehouse; providing the "State of the Judiciary" report; presenting the two newest jurist for 2009; and recognizing the Committee of the Year.

According to current chief judge Alvin R. Sharp, the meeting has been in the planning stages for over two years and is intended to serve as a calling card for future judicial meetings in Morehouse.

Reservations are requested by calling 281-0863.
