Wossman falls to Booker T. Washington

Running back Jessie Sheppard ripped through the Wossman defense for 179 yards and two touchdowns in a 20-18 victory for Booker T. Washington over Wossman Friday night.

Demorris Hamburg got Wossman into the game early with a 80-yard touchdown return on a BTW punt. They then took a 14-7 lead on a Herdarius Scott touchdown run. Scott, who ran for 28 yards on nine carries, scored a second rushing touchdown to start the third quarter off for Wossman.

BTW's Sheppard had touchdown runs of two yards and seven yards. BTW won the contest after a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Demarcus Wesley to wide receiver Montrel Jackson.

Wilbert Williams led the Wossman offense with 60 yards on 12 carries in another stand-out performance for the junior running back. Bam Charleston again passed well in the losing effort. Charleston completed 6-of-17 passes for 153 yards.

Wossman yielded 310 yards of offense to BTW. The Wildcats gained 266 yards on the offensive side of the football.

"We did not contain the run well enough," Wossman head coach Vince Landrum said. "We must get together as a team and tackle much better."

Also, a pair of fumbles hindered the Wossman offensive efforts as a central theme to troubles for the Wildcats in district play.
