Story Archives: Wossman stumbles at Madison

Wossman stumbles at Madison
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Wossman will look to rebound from their heartbreaking loss at Madion when they host Booker T. Washington of Shreveport on Friday night inside Wildcat Stadium.

Wossman quarterback Bam Charleston continues to improve his mobility after a knee injury. Chareleston will be counted on heavily after BTW surrendered two passing touchdowns to Richwood last week.

"(Booker) is a solid team," Wossman head coach Vince Landrum said. "We will have to play hard for four quarters and keep a hold on the football."

Since opening the season 4-0, Wossman has seen injuries mount and an offensive lull set in after scoring just six points at Neville. Wossman reverted back to early season problems with scoring points against Madison last week. A rash of penalties stalled some of the Wildcats' progress as well.

BTW running back Jessie Sheppard is considered the best running back in the Shreveport/Bossier-area this season. Sheppard runs behind a physical offensive line that will attempt to pound away at the Wildcats.

Wossman has not just worked on that kind of run defense this week. They will need to be more consistent in moving the ball on offense as they were scoreless through three-quarters last week.

Wossman has its own set of super-fast feet in the backfield. Running back Wilbert Williams has run over and around the competition so far this season.

The running back with the biggest effort could be the deciding factor in this key district match-up, set for 7 p.m. Friday night.
