Story Archives: Warriers ready to battle Arcadia

Warriers ready to battle Arcadia
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Saint Frederick Warriors (4-3, 1-1) will attempt to bounce back from a devastating loss to Cedar Creek this Friday night with a visit from Arcadia (5-2, 1-1).

A shot at the district championship is still in sight for both teams after losing games a week ago.

Arcadia came up on the short end of a 30-14 decision to OCS in a game where the Hornets defense struggled to contain the physical rushing attack of OCS.

"We have to establish a running game," St. Frederick head coach Paul Guerriero said. "That is a big key for us against Arcadia."

On defense, the Warriors have worked on containment of an Arcadia rushing attack that produced over 200 yards of offense last Friday night.

"They do so many things good offensively," Guerriero said. "They are so athletic and can cause so many problems that we must play our assignments and be ready to play."

St. Fred has worked this week on the preparation side of the game, both physically and mentally. The Warriors came away from last week's Cedar Creek game feeling they failed to properly prepare for the game.

Chris Buttitta has run all over opposing defenses this season from the running back position. Buttitta had 140 yards last week and has 9 rushing touchdowns this season for St. Fred.

St. Fred has also steadily improved their offensive proficiency behind the play of quarterback Landon Williams. He has limited mental mistakes and turnovers in a way that gives the team a higher rate of success as of late.
