posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
POW/MIA/Military and Employer Day will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, at the University of Louisiana-Monroe football game.

Events will be held to honor prisoners of war, those missing in action, military members, military reservists and their employers. All military personnel are invited to wear their uniforms and invite their employers.

Pre-game activities start at 10 a.m. at Brown Stadium with a JROTC drill team competition. Military branches will have displays in front of the stadium, including the Army climbing wall, the Marine Corps' chin-up competition, a Navy display and an Air Force challenge. A helicopter and pilots will also be on hand.

At 5:45 p.m., skydivers will bring in an American flag and the game ball, with an Air Force B-52 bomber flyover to follow at 5:51 p.m. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

The ULM band will perform at the opening ceremony and at half time. The presentation of colors will be made by the West Monroe High School Air Force JROTC. Each branch of the military will present their service flag during the half-time ceremony.

For more information on the special events, call Warren Smiley at 387-2646.
