Eagles soar past Arcadia
Needing something extra special to defeat their talented district 2-1A foes from Arcadia, the Ouachita Christian School Eagles found it inside running back Matt Kennedy.
Kennedy sliced and diced the Arcadia defense for 123 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to push OCS over Arcadia, 28-14.
OCS (6-1, 2-0 in 2-1A) executed its way to two first-quarter touchdowns. Arcadia could also do little to penetrate a fired-up defensive unit from OCS.
A touchdown run by Kennedy and Cade Lawhon hauling in an 8-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jacob Davis was all the Eagles needed to get out to an early 14-0 lead.
Davis was steady as a rock once again for OCS. He completed 8-of-13 passes for 113 in the victory.
"We executed real well on both sides," OCS head coach Steven Fitzhugh said of Davis. "We were steady in the running game and with the pass."
Dustin Andrews got into the act with a two-yard touchdown run to cap the scoring in the second quarter. Andrews rushed for 76 yards on the night for OCS.
OCS smothered the Arcadia rushing attack in limiting the Hornets to just 100 yards as a team. OCS out-gained Arcadia 376-203 in total offense.
LaDavious Perry found wide-out Latterius Allen for a 33-yard touchdown pass to open the second half.
Kennedy quickly responded for OCS with a 33-yard jaunt to pay dirt to seal the win for the Eagles.
Lawhon led OCS in receiving with three catches for 55 yards. It was his most receptions in a single game this season.
OCS was able to hang onto the No.3 spot in the Louisiana Sportwriter's poll this week. |
