Story Archives: Wossman continues long road trip

Wossman continues long road trip
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Wossman Wildcats are a bit road weary. For the fifth straight week, The Wildcats (4-2) will hit the road to battle Madison Parish.

The Wildcats have dropped two straight after a 28-12 loss at Richwood last week. Madison (0-6) will be focused on getting the lead out of their anemic offensive attack this week.

Wossman has seen the demise of a promising rushing attack as quarterback Bam Charleston remains questionable with a sprained MCL in his knee.

While freshman Kimarcus Jones has filled in well, the inexperience led to turnovers and little offensive point production for the Wildcats.

Lost in the shuffle at Richwood, the Madison defense presents the Wildcasts rushing attack to get back on track. Wilbert Williams has some of the fastest wheels in Class 3-A and will look to get the Wossman squad back in the win column this week.

Madison has struggled to stop anything thrown its way during the season. The Jaguars have yielded 34 points or more in five ballgames this season. The lone exception was a 21-0 loss to the Mangham Dragons.

While Wossman coaches were not available for comment, it must be asserted that the Wildcats feel a sense of urgency in re-establishing a solid rushing attack for district championship's sake this week.

Jones may not have the experience of Charleston, but he does have a wealth of speed to lend to the Wildcats offense. Offensive line protection was another key issue for Wossman at Richwood.

With a season of hope ahead, Wossman will try to get back in the championship picture with a 7 p.m. kickoff at Jaguars Stadium.
