Story Archives: Richwood ready For Booker T. Washington

Richwood ready For Booker T. Washington

Richwood is feeling good following a triplet of wins putting them back into respectability in the mind of many high school football fans around the state of Louisiana.

A trip to Booker T. Washinton (4-2) is just the kind of test Richwood (3-3) would like to see if the good days are truly here to stay.

"We will see a very athletic team," Richwood head coach Warren Trimble said. "We have to be prepared to fill the gaps and contain their offense."

BTW has won three of their last four games and has run over most in their path. An inspired Carroll squad was the only hiccup two weeks ago, 28-12.

BTW recovered for a 28-22 victory over Green Oaks last week with over 300 yards of offense. Richwood has rushed its way to victory lately as well.

Quarterback Greg Johnson had three rushing touchdowns last week as Richwood ran past Wossman. Johnson has used the last two games since his suspension to revive a once-anemic Rams offense.

The offensive line with running back Richard Wilson has taken the pressure off of Johnson as his strong supporting cast.

When times get rough, Anthony Abraham has been a viable replacement for a few snaps at quarterback.

The Lions are not eager to fall to a second northeast Louisiana foe anytime soon. The Carroll loss was all the motivation the BTW team needs to come in ready to battle the Rams.

Running back Jessie Sheppard ran for 219 yards last week to give the Richwood defense something to work on. Richwood has seen a few great running backs this season and will add another to the list on Friday night.
