Eagles hit road to Arcadia
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The OCS Eagles (5-1) put their district championship dreams on the line when traveling to Arcadia (5-1) on Friday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Eagles may face the most athletic team they have faced all year as the Hornets have buzzed out to a great start. OCS has exceeded even the most ambitious hype with a team that is as balanced as anyone playing in Class 1-A this season.

Quarterback Jacob Davis has led the Eagles on a tear through opposing offenses to the tune of over 400 yards per contest. Dustin Andrews had two touchdown runs last week against Bernice. Starting running back Glenn Marshall had his sixth touchdown run of the season during the first half as well.

"We need to continue to work hard," OCS head coach Steven Fitzhugh said. "We have been executing real well and be able to play some of our kids for depth purposes."

The benches cleared in a 64-0 rout of Bernice to open district play a week ago.

Arcadia presents enough problems in defensive match-up with their speed to cause OCS to work extra hard on containing the skill positions of quarterback and running back this week.

Taylor Dawson has made the difference for OCS too. Along with a couple of Marshall touchdown returns on punts, the OCS kicker has put the Eagles special teams unit on the map.

Dawson has missed just one field goal all season and is perfect on extra-point attempts — a record OCS coaches see that must continue for the team to have success in district competition.
