Flossie Mae Armstrong
Flossie Mae "Madea" Armstrong was called home from many medical hurdles to her reward on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Morehouse District Educational Association Center with Rev. L.E. Armstrong officiating. Visitation was Tuesday evening at Tennant Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by husbands, the late Herbert Nickerson and the late Earl Wilson Mayo; her parents, Talmadge and Pearl Armstrong; a brother, Louvoyd Armstrong; two sons, Willie Lee Nickerson and the Rev. Freddie Armstrong; and one great-grandson, Christopher Armstrong.
Sis Flossie Mayo leaves to cherish her memories her children, Zelma Briggs and husband, Leroy, of Bastrop; the Honorable James E. Mayo, mayor of Monroe, and wife, Angela; Melvin Mayo and wife, Sonya, of Madison, Ala.; and Lucy Watson and husband, Waymon of Pittsburg, Calif. Also left to cherish her memories are a daughter-in-law, Vella Merrells Armstrong of Bastrop; three brothers, the Rev. Lee E. Armstrong and wife, Lois of Bastrop, Talmadge Arinstrong of Los Angeles, Calif., the Rev. John Willie Armstrong and wife, Edith of Bastrop; four sisters, Lucille Nelson of Los Angeles, Calif., Luller Whittley and husband, Dan, of Milwaukee, Wis., Diane Hawkins of Killen, Texas, and Kathleen Morris and husband, Richard, of Carson, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Grady Eugene Bratton
Mr. Grady Eugene Bratton, 75, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday evening.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Bratton; son, Michael Bratton and wife, Janine, of Bossier City; brother, Charles William Bratton of West Monroe; sisters, Mary Frances Warner of Monroe and Shirley Marie Gonzales of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Todd Worley, Stan Karr, Mark Gonzales, Steve Farmer, Mike Martin and Billy Barnes.

Fannie Crawford Corbin
Mrs. Fannie Crawford Corbin, 86, of Monroe, died after a brief illness on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008.
Graveside services were at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Hasley Cemetery with Dr. Alan Miller officiating. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Saturday afternoon.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, William Allan Corbin Sr. and daughter, Marilyn Corbin Tittle.
Survivors include her children, Sue Davis and husband, Edwin, Don Corbin and wife, Janet, Mark Corbin and wife, Annette; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Crawford Young.

Betty Fay Crockett Crain
Mrs. Betty Fay Crockett Crain, 68, of West Monroe, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Bro. Eddie Riley and Pastor Bobbie North officiating. Interment was in Columbia Hill Cemetery in Columbia. Visitation was Friday evening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Dottie Crockett; a sister, Maxine Brown; and three brothers, A.D. Crockett, Doug Crockett and David Crockett.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Robert "PeeWee" Crain; three daughters, Linda and Johnny Bozeman, Janet and Scott Webb, Rhonda and Charles Sikes; son, Rusty and Diane Crain; sister, Margie Campbell; and brother, Wren Crockett.
Grandsons were pallbearers: David Frost, Wes Webb, Andy Webb, Jamie Sikes, Scott Ellis, Mikey Crain, Nathan McCarty and Jamie Peavy.

Charlotte Ethridge
Mrs. Charlotte Ethridge, 54, of Monroe, passed away at her home Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008.
Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Monroe with Rev. Roddy Taylor officiating.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Evans Ethridge and her sister, Rena M. Ethridge.
Survivors include her mother, Charlotte M. Ethridge; brothers, Dick Ethridge and wife, Pat, and Bill Ethridge and wife, Susan; her "special children", Richard Ethridge and wife, Jessica, Ainslee Ethridge Peters and husband, Ben, Sarah Ethridge Bagwell and husband, Curry, Grant Ethridge and wife, Barrie, Stuart Ethridge, and Stephen Ethridge and wife, Jamie; seven great nieces; one nephew; and special friend, Mike Glover.
Honorary pallbearers were Richard Ethridge, Atephen Ethridge, Grant Ethridge, Stuart Ethridge, Ben Peters and Curry Bagwell.

Doris Llado Ellis
Mrs. Doris Llado Ellis, 74, of Sterlington, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Sebastian Kallarackal officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday with a vigil wake service at 6 p.m.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, David Ellis; two sons, Henry Ellis and wife, Waynese, of Frisco, Texas, and Larry Ellis and wife, Andrea, of West Monroe; grandchildren, Kimberly Ellis of West Monroe, and Katie LeNew of Austin, Texas; and many special lifelong friends that she treasured.
Pallbearers were Tommy Gilmore, Elmo Smith, Don Alexander, Donnie Sullivan, Lynn Powell and Jessie Read.

Violet Sawyer Foreman
Mrs. Violet Sawyer Foreman, 83, of West Monroe, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at St. Francis North in Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Waymon Warren officiating. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation was Sunday evening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, B. F. and Dalhia Carroll Sawyer and her brother, June Sawyer.
Survivors include her husband, W.A. "Sonny" Foreman; son, Steve Foreman and wife, Gail, all of West Monroe; daughter, ReNia Harbour Foreman of Monroe; grandchildren, Amanda Foreman, Bryan Foreman, Stephanie Bearden and Ben Harbour; great-grandchild, Tailen Bearden; brother-in-law, P.L. Foreman and wife, Winona; and special nephew and niece, Dennis Foreman and Martha Guillotte.

Courtland E. Hathaway
Mr. Courtland E. "Spot" Hathaway, 84, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Robert "Bodie" Spicer officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was Monday evening.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gwen Roberson.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years on Oct. 2, Ruth Ferrington Hathaway; daughters, Ann Sullivan and husband, Jim, of Manassas, Va., Sue Renfrow and husband, Max, of West Monroe, Martha Fisher and husband, Rick, of Monroe, and Alice Harris and husband, Kimbal, of Rincon, Ga.; special niece, Kathy "Bubbles" Sanders and husband, Al, of West Monroe; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Hathaway and wife, Camille, of West Monroe; sisters-in-law, June Ferrington and Blanche Kiesewetter; and special puppy Bebee.

Margie Nell Haire Jackson
Mrs. Margie Nell Haire Jackson, of Monroe, passed away Oct. 4, 2008.

Mr. Leverett "Jolly" Kyle, 82, of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, in Monroe.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Maxine Kyle; two children, Danny L. Kyle and wife, Lanie, Tanya S. Parker and husband, Rick; grandson, Aidan J. Kyle; and several other relatives and friends.

Ruby Lee Martin Moore
Mrs. Ruby Lee Martin Moore, 86, of Monroe, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008.

Dale Richard Moser
Mr. Dale Richard Moser, 65, of West Monroe, passed away at his residence in West Monroe on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008.
Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. George Bonner officiating. Visitation was immediately before the service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Moser; grandpa, Gary Elmer Moser; grandmother, Anna L. Moser; father, Warren Gary Moser; brother, Paul Moser; brother-in-law, George Robinson; aunt, Eleanor and uncle, Ralph Moser.

Reggie Dale Smith
Funeral services for Reggie Dale Smith, 80, of West Monroe, were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Keith Roberts officiating. Interment was at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation was Tuesday evening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Smith and his son, B.H. Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; Coleman Virdia Wimberley; father, Charles Alexander Avant; mother, Mattie Lee Aulds Avant; sister, Ina Florine Wimberley; and brother, Milton Lester Avant.
Survivors include her sons Dr. Ronald C. Wimberley and wife, Sandra, of Raleigh, N.C. and Dr. Dale W. Wimberley and wife, Cynthia, of Blacksburg,
Va.; daughters, Ilene Wimberley Snyder and husband, Gregory, of Oak Park, Ill., and Betty Gaye Wimberley Sullivan and husband, Glenn, of West Monroe; grandchildren, Rachel S. Peak and husband Bart, Christopher Wimberley, Coleman Sullivan and wife, Catherine, Lee Johannah Snyder, Caroline Amelda Snyder, Eric Wimberley and Cara Wimberley; great-grandchildren, Austin Peak and Jackson Peak; special niece, Virginia Lee Wimberley Walker; dear friend, Tracy Yelverton; and devoted cat Molly.
