Proving they are far from out of the race when it comes to the 1A state championship, Ouachita Christian School powered past the Bernice Bears 64-0 Friday night.

OCS (5-1) rolled up 249 yards of offense while the Eagles ambushed Bernice on defense by holding the Bears to minus-29 yards in total offense.

It was something special that started the game in the right way for OCS Friday night. Glen Marshall took the first Bernice punt of the night into the end zone from 73yards out for a quick 7-0 lead after the PAT.

It was the first of four consecutive extra points made by kicker Taylor Dawson who has played a big role in the successful special teams play for OCS this season.

Dustin Andrews posted 40 yards rushing on just five carries and had a pair of first quarter touchdown runs. His first score of 11 yards away put OCS in the driver seat with a 14-0 advantage.

John Clay Reeves recorded his first interception of the season and tacked on another first quarter score for OCS with a 35-yard return to pay dirt.

Five other Eagles scored touchdowns in the game. Matt Kennedy recorded his sixth rushing touchdown of the season with a 67-yard blast up the middle.

Dustin Cole followed with a 2-yard fumble return for a touchdown to push the OCS lead to 42-0.

Starting quarterback Jacob Davis saw limited action once things got out of hand. Davis was just 1-of-3 passing on the night before exiting before halftime.

Paul Micheal Garner threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Key for his first touchdown pass of the season.

Touchdown runs by Trent Temples and Tanner Wyatt sandwiched a 27-yard field goal by Jake Gladney to round out the scoring for OCS.

Kennedy led all players with 109 yards rushing and a touchdown. The OCS defense allowed just one first down.

Elliot DePaul led Bernice (0-6) with five yards on four carries.
