Warriors Triumph Over Grambling Lab, 51-20
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The St. Frederick Warriors stuck another one in the win column Friday night by dismantling Grambling Lab, 51-20.

Chris Buttitta got the Warriors (4-2) on the scoreboard first with a 4-yard touchdown run to give St. Fred the early 8-0 following a Landon Williams run for two points.

Williams has emerged as a huge star for the Warriors after some early season struggles. Like a prize-fighting champ, Williams answered the bell to lead his team to a big victory.

Williams finished the game with 119 yards and three touchdowns rushing. He also completed 9 of 12 passes for 111 yards and a score. Buttitta was a strong presence as well with 136 yards on the ground with two touchdowns.

Kendall Denson ran in from 3 yards away to tie the score for Grambling at 8-8 following his own run for two.

Nick Leehy rumbled 64 yards for a touchdown on the Warrior's next possession to give St. Fred the lead in a back-and-forth first half of play.

Zack Lasuzzo scored twice in the second half for St. Fred. Williams tossed him a 16-yard touchdown strike before Lasuzzo blocked a Grambling punt and returned it for a touchdown, putting the game out of reach at that point.

Buttitta finished the third quarter scoring with a 36-yard rumble down the sideline for his second score of the night.

It was the Grambling defenses' inability to stop the power rushing attack that gave St. Fred the upper hand thanks in large part to such an aggressive effort by the Warrior offensive line.

The rushing attack was the story for both teams. St. Fred held the upper hand in rushing yards, 339-239.

St. Fred's bout with Grambling marked the second of three games that Williams recorded four touchdowns in a contest.
