St. Frederick hits road for bout with Grambling

Coming off a resounding road victory at LaSalle last week, the St. Frederick Warriors
(3-2) will try to keep that momentum going as they roll into a district tilt with Grambling Friday night.

Landon Williams ignited the Warriors offense and Chris Buttitta chipped in with a touchdown run to lead the attack against LaSalle.

However, a quick and agile Grambling defense that knows how to fly to the football awaits the Warriors according to head coach Paul Guerriero.

"We have been working to get the running game going," Guerriero said. "We did some real good things last week and want the momentum to continue."

The Warriors will hope to offset the blitzes and speed of the Grambling defense with a pounding running game led by Buttitta who has at least one touchdown run in each of the Warriors five games.

Grambling (3-2) has stifled all comers, including a pair of shutouts. The latest came last week in a 34-0 triumph over Hannan High School. The Kittens yield just 9.8 points per game.

Williams struggled in the first few weeks but has rebounded to be a proven leader of the offense. When Buttitta cannot find a hole, Williams goes to the air or the ground to make a play.

Grambling also shutdown the Northwood Lena offense in a 6-0 victory by the Kittens.

A flurry of second half touchdowns set up the big Grambling win over Hannan last week.

The Grambling offense is a challenge the Warriors have recognized.

"We need to tackle better," Guerriero said. "We have been getting better each week but not up to where it needs to be."
