Rams host Wossman in district match-up
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
After a big road victory at Jackson last Friday night, Richwood (2-3) is back inside Rams Stadium to tangle with district rival Wossman (4-1).

Richwood is heating up as Wossman is cooling off, helped by Neville which gave the Rams their first loss of of the season a week ago.

Richwood is riding a two-game win streak after back-to-back wins over Carroll and Jackson, 49-20, last week.

The Rams have settled into a two-quarterback system with Greg Johnson and Anthony Abraham splitting time since Johnson was suspended two weeks ago.

Abraham has often been the Ram spark plug when the offense struggled to move the ball at times this season.

"Abraham has been there for us in-house," Richwood head coach Warren Trimble said. "He has played really well when we need to have a big play."

Johnson still seems to have the experience and decision-making advantage though that gap lessens with every passing game.

Richwood is most concerned in making less mental mistakes against the Wildcats this week.

"We need to cut down our penalties," Trimble said. "To win this week, we have to be more disciplined."

Wossman, one of the best 3-A teams on offense this season, found little to write home about at Neville last week.

Wilbert Williams was limited in his running lanes but the Wildcats feel good about chances to run the ball this week although Bam Charleston will sit out with a leg injury.

"We would like to establish the run," Wossman head coach Vince Landrum said. "We will not change everything up because of our quarterback going down."

This old-school rivalry will mean even more to each set of uniforms because of the beginning of district play also in the mix.

Wossman looks to get back on the track toward a district title against a Richwood team that has risen into district title contention after a rocky start.

Kickoff at Richwood is scheduled for 7 p.m.
