OCS entertains Bernice in district opener
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Following a defeat at the hands of Sterlington Friday, the Ouachita Christian School Eagles open District 2-1A play this week when they host the Bernice Bears.

On top of Class 1A for a week, the Eagles are looking at this time of year as a prime time to climb back into the driver seat of a wide-open playoff race. OCS should be helped by quarterback Jacob Davis, who has been on fire as of late. He ran for two touchdowns and threw another two in the Eagles' loss to Sterlington.

Glen Marshall, with six touchdowns catches this year, has been a favorite target of Davis. The Eagles continue to average over 400 yards of offense in each outing.

Bernice (1-4) is a team the Eagles (4-1) have had success against in the past, the OCS defense will be tested through the air once again this week. Sterlington had success throwing the ball in the second quarter against the Eagles, who must work to correct the mistakes they made in the big loss to their Highway 165 rival.

Meanwhile, special teams play has figured big in OCS's success thus far in the 2008 season.

Taylor Dawson has been perfect on PAT kicks as well as connecting on a 25-yard field goal last week.

While not as dominant, punt returns have given the Eagles good field position through the first five games. Marshall has a return for a touchdown under his belt, too.

Kickoff at Eagles Stadium is set for 7 p.m. KHLL 100.9 FM will broadcast the game on radio and on the Internet as well.
