Central Private's size concerns River Oaks

With a big win over defending Class 1A state champion Glenbrook behind them, the River Oaks Mustangs (5-1) will meet Central Private on Friday night in another key game in Mississippi Private School Association action.

The MPSA race to the playoffs is beginning to heat up and the Mustangs are on a hot streak. Winners of four straight games, River Oaks must stop Central Private's rushing attack to maintain momentum as the 2008 season continues to unfold.

"They are probably as physical of a team as we have seen," said River Oaks head coach
Robert Hannah. "We must get a good start on defense."

Running back Bobby Muse has keyed a Central Private rushing attack that ranks near the top in several MPSA rushing categories.

"They are so big and physical on the offensive line," Hannah said. "(Bobby) Muse has benefited and has executed really well for them."

The Mustangs will rely on their offensive, too. The duel threat of quarterback Cody Trichell has been lethal to most defenses the Mustangs have faced this season.

Trichell scored three touchdowns last week in the big win over Glenbrook. The senior is also dumping the ball off to several players who have stepped up their production for the Mustangs.

Running back Vincent Moore has been one of the leaders in the backfield with six rushing touchdowns this season. John Rockett has been a force for River Oaks on both sides of the ball as well.

Rockett has scored touchdowns on both offense and defense.

Trichell and Moore also suit up on defense after their offensive duties along with Rockett.

A 7 p.m. kickoff between River Oaks and Central Private is scheduled. KMLB 540 AM will broadcast the game.
