West Ouachita wins wild one

In thrilling fashion, a near-capacity home crowd at West Ouachita saw the Chiefs sling the monkey from its aching back in a 42-41 homecoming win for the ages.

West Ouachita (2-3) beat Tioga in one of the most thrilling victories to happen at Red Sims Stadium in quite some time.

A missed PAT with over a minute to go was the difference between gloom and glory for the Chiefs.

Tioga quarterback Terrance Dorsey led the Indians (1-4) on a 70-yard scoring drive to begin the game as he had two long runs to set up a Demetrius Bryant touchdown run from two yards out.

Dorsey finished with 373 total yards and three touchdowns, including two rushing scores, to pace Tioga.

The game was full of great quarterback play as West Ouachita got a triad of rushing touchdowns from senior signal-caller Matt Calhoun.

After Calhoun tied the game with his own touchdown run from 11 yards away, Dorsey put Tioga back up with a 12-yard run to pay dirt. A pair of fumbles killed important drives for West Ouachita.

Tioga built a 21-7 halftime lead after a 51-yard bomb from Dorsey to Darren Grinstead bewildered the Chiefs defense.

The homecoming festivities at halftime ignited a flame of competition in the Chiefs as they reeled off 28 unanswered points to grab a 35-21 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Billy Minnfield started the streak with a 44-yard touchdown run. Touchdown runs by Calhoun and Jarvis Grayson highlighted the onslaught.

Grayson had 106 yards on just 10 carries in the game as he did most of his damage after halftime.

Minnfield thought he had put the game out of reach with a fourth quarter touchdown run of 73 yards off of right tackle. The Indians had other ideas with an 80-yard touchdown drive that came up a mere point short on the missed extra point.
