Congressman Rodney Alexander was easily re-elected Saturday in light voter turnout, according to complete but unofficial returns.

Alexander captured almost 90 percent of the vote in the Republican Party primary election in the 5th congressional district race.

Alexander garnered 27,715 votes, or 89.66 percent. Alexander's challenger, Andrew Clack of Richland Parish, took 3,195 votes, or 10.34 percent.

With his Republican Party primary victory, Alexander was re-elected to a fourth term as congressman for the 5th District of Louisiana in the U.S. House of Representatives. That was the case because no Democrat qualified to run for Democratic Party nomination in the 5th District race.

In other elections Saturday, Monroe City Court Judge Tammy Lee was re-elected in a race against former Ouachita Parish Sheriff Chuck Cook.

Lee secured 5,576 votes, or 60.69 percent, to 3,611 votes, or 39.31 percent, for Cook.

Meanwhile, Wince Highshaw was re-elected city marshal in Monroe. Highshaw received 6,132 votes, or 68.57 percent, to 2,811 votes, or 31.43 percent, for Chris Handy.

In West Monroe, William Guyton was re-elected marshal with 3,059 votes, or 60.31 percent. His challenger, Stan Hayden, got 2,013 votes, or 39.69 percent.

On another front, Foster Campbell was re-elected to the 5th District seat on the Public Service Commission.

Campbell pulled 120,244 votes, or 78.05 percent. Campbell's lone challenger, Jim Crowley, garnered 33,821 votes, or 21.95 percent.
