Story Archives: St. Frederick visits talented LaSalle

St. Frederick visits talented LaSalle

After falling behind and never getting the offense going in a 32-6 home loss to Wossman, the St. Frederick Warriors will hit the road to face a talented LaSalle squad at 7 p.m. Friday night.

The offensive woes of turnovers and missed assignments quickly led to a big deficit hurry last week for St. Fred. (1-3).

"We had some mistakes on offense that hurt," Warriors head coach Paul Geurrerio said. "They were playing more physical than us." St. Fred will see another good running offense at LaSalle (3-1) this week.

The Warriors coaching staff was pleased with how well the defense kept up after being in bad spots.

"We played the run overall real well," Geurrerio said. "We need to have a much better pass rush."

Play-action pass is another key part of the LaSalle offense and the Warriors have been working on pass coverage during practices.

Wossman seemd to confuse Warriors quarterback Logan Williams last Friday. His reads seemed unsure and Wossman's defensive takeaways gave its offense repeated scoring chances.

"The better we get at reading the defense," Geurerio said. "The better off we will be this week."

Running back Chris Buttitta was not much of a factor last week because the Wildcats won the line battle up front.

St. Fred hopes to translate hard work in practice into better offensive line play with a more physical punch against LaSalle.

Kickoff in LaSalle Parish is set for 7 p.m.
