Rams carry big win to Jackson
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
After packing their bags with a huge rivalry win last week, the Richwood Rams hit the road to battle Jackson out of the Baton Rouge district of 2-A this week.

The Rams will see the return of quarterback Greg Williams to an offense that did not miss a beat in his absence against Carroll last week.

Anthony Abram stepped in admirably and will be a viable option behind Williams for the rest of the season.

The Richwood defense pitched a shutout and will be tested again this week. The only Carroll touchdowns came on offensive fumbles that were returned for scores.

"Our defense played extremely well," Richwood coach Warren Trimble said. "The offense gave up a couple of fluke touchdowns. We ran the ball pretty good."

Antonio Hudson was the star for Richwood in a 217 yard rushing outburst. He will be counted on to open things up again against Jackson.

"It was real special for us," Trimble said. "He showed up and had a big game."

Jackson (0-3) is expected to use a spread offense to help make its passing game effective.

Jackson has had limited thus far, averaging under 20 points per game. "They are dangerous," Trimble said. "They will spread out and run real well."

Morgan City defeated Jackson 27-17 last week and Jackson has lost two games late because of poor defensive pass coverage.

The offensive line is the biggest improvement after being a major concern for Richwood the last month. Hard work has been rewarded with a victory.

Now the Rams look for their first two-game win streak of 2008 by kicking off against Jackson at 7 p.m. Friday night.
