Neville, Wossman meet Friday at Bill Ruple Stadium

With history and passion looming large, the Neville Tigers and Wossman Wildcats will carry on the "Battle of The Big Cats" Friday at Bill Ruple Stadium.

Neville and Wossman are playing as good as any football team in the area so far this season.

Neville has reeled off three straight victories since losing in week one to Ruston, 19-7.
Quarterback Taylor Birch has eight touchdown passes and five rushing touchdowns this season as the catalyst of a dangerous Neville offense. He has received a lot of help from junior running back DeAndre Reed. Reed got the Neville offense going when he scored two touchdowns in the first half at Marshall last week.

"They have a lot of weapons," said Wossman head coach Vince Landrum. "They are dangerous and can not just run well but throw the football."

The Neville defense will be tested when the Tigers take on Wossman. The Wildcats moved the ball through the air and on the ground at will in a 32-6 thumping of St. Frederick last week.

Quarterback Bam Charleston enjoyed a coming out party with 260 passing yards, and Wilbert Williams continues to run well for the undefeated Wildcats.

"We have to continue to get better," Landrum said. "I think we have gotten better each week and will continue to practice and work hard."

Wossman dominated the line of scrimmage against the Warriors last week and will again face a top-notch rushing attack against the Tigers.

The defensive line has been the heart of the defense this year for the Wildcats, but Birch figures to balance the attack with some deep pass routes.

Neville has owned the series the last few years. Wossman is 4-0 for the first time under Landrum in what has been a good surprise at the school and in the community, too.

Kickoff at Bill Ruple Stadium is set for 7 p.m. Star 101.9 FM will broadcast the game live.
