Mustangs welcome Central Private With a week to get back to fundamentals, the River Oaks Mustangs (3-1) are healthy and ready to get down to business versus Central Private on Friday night.
"We worked on fundamentals," River Oaks head coach Robert Hannah said. "We will need to tackle better to win this week."
Not much has been found for the Mustang staff to complain about lately. The Mustangs are clicking on all cylinders heading into this important Mississippi Private School Association contest.
Quarterback Cody Trichell has been really solid for the Mustangs this season. He is also serving double duty as a defensive back and has two interceptions.
John Rockett and Vince Moore has proven to be dynamite for River Oaks. The double whammy these two have put on teams led to big gains on the ground.
Allowing just under 14 points per game this season, River Oaks is certainly able to flex some defensive muscle this year.
Stopping the rushing attack of Central will be a key point this week.
Wide receivers have also began to make plays off of Trichell throws. Charles Bowie has now emerged as a key target on offense. He hauled in a 26-yard touchdown pass from Trichell two weeks ago.
A focus of River Oaks to keep improving the offense's balance in play selection.
"We are working on getting better," Hannah said. "We have a tough stretch coming up and we need to be ready to play.' |
