Two Monroe men died in separate automobile accidents after they were ejected from their vehicles.

On Friday, Sept. 20, State Police investigated a one-vehicle crash on Prairie Road in Ouachita Parish. According to State Police, the driver, Randy L. Dupree, 50, of Monroe, lost control of his 1988 GMC pickup truck. It entered the southbound ditch and struck a ditch embankment, causing it to overturn onto its left side.

Dupree was partially ejected during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office.

Toxicology tests are pending. Dupree was not wearing his seat belt, according to State Police.

On Monday, Sept. 22, State Police investigated another single-vehicle crash on La. 3235 in Lafourche Parish that claimed the life of a Monroe man.

A 2005 Ford F-350 driven by Robert Patterson, 59, was traveling north on La. 3235 in the right lane. The truck was also towing an empty gooseneck trailer.

According to State Police, Patterson failed to stop at the T-intersection of La. 24 and continued across the intersection.

The Ford truck impacted a ditch embankment head-on and came to rest.

Patterson was trapped inside and later removed from the vehicle by the fire department.

Patterson was airlifted to West Jefferson Hospital by West Jefferson AirMed. He died enroute to the hospital.

According to State Police, Patterson was not wearing a seat belt. Toxicology tests are pending.
