Gridiron set for Oct. 2

Political satire and parody turn the crisis known as Louisianan Politics into a true laughing matter at the third Annual Gridiron Show, to be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the West Monroe Convention Center.

This year's show — "Gridiron: camPAIN '08" — revives the "Holier Than Thou 1st Church Choir" with renditions of "Blessed Insurance," "Amazing Race" and "Oh, Ba-Ma, My Lord, Oh-Ba-Ma."

Local news anchor John Denison will again report the "news that's not fit for real TV," while rewrites of "These Boots are Made for Walkin'," "My Favorite Things" and Bill Clinton singing the hip-hop favorite "Hill's Got Back" are just a few of this year's show stoppers.

"Gridiron: camPAIN '08" is fashioned after the popular 70's variety show, "Laugh-In," and includes the ever popular one-liner wall of jokes.

"Gridiron: camPAIN '08" tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at the West Monroe Convention Center.

Proceeds benefit the Mal Cooley Scholarship Fund, administered by the Advertising Club of Northeast Louisiana.

The evening entertainment also includes food and adult beverages. Doors open at 6 p.m.

For more information, contact the West Monroe Convention Center at 396-5000.
