The Northeast La. Genealogical and Historical society met on Sunday, Sept. 13, at the main branch of the Ouachita Parish public library.

New officers elected at the meeting are James Free, president; Lois Ferguson, first vice president; Ruth Doney, second vice president; Margie Brown, secretary; Rachel Laird, treasurer; Lora Peppers, historian; and Frances Jakes, parliamentarian.

Outgoing officers are Bennie Hixon, president; Terry Perritt, second vice president; and Sandra Drummond, treasurer.

Guest speaker Toni Rodgers gave ideas for research sites in Louisiana as well as other states. She provided tips for preserving records and commented on how helpful Daughters of the American Revolution records are when researching Revolutionary War ancestors.
