St. Frederick off to fast start in 2008 following 29-6 pasting of Delhi

The St. Frederick Warriors took another step forward in a season of hope and promise with a convincing 29-6 victory over the Delhi Bears in Monroe Friday night.

St. Frederick (2-0) kept Delhi off balance all night with a solid offensive attack that was proficient both in the running game and passing game.

After a quick 7-0 lead on a Chris Buttitta touchdown run, Zach Lasuzzo picked off a Delhi pass and raced in for a score. The Warriors were in cruise control from that point forward.

"I felt like the interception was the turning point," said Warriors coach Paul Guerriero. "Zach (Lasuzzo) made a good play on the football."

It was not until late in the contest that Delhi cracked the Warriors stone wall defensive unit.

While Lasuzzo delivered a solid performance, he was just one of many Warriors to stand out in the Delhi contest.

Logan Williams had another fine outing for St. Fred. The first-year quarterback threw for two touchdowns on the night with no interceptions.

"Logan is getting more comfortable," Guerriero said. "He had a real good game against Delhi."

The Warriors will look to continue their blazing hot start in the 2008 season when they battle Loyola Prep Friday night at 7 p.m.
