Boyett claims club championship at Calvert Crossing/Pine Hills

The Pine Hills Country Club and Calvert Crossing Golf Club held their annual Club Championship over the weekend.

Tournament play was held Saturday at Pine Hills, while on Sunday tournament participants took to the links at Calvert Crossing.

Wyatt Boyett took home first place in the championship flight by posting rounds of 72 and 75 for a tournament total of 147. Clint Foster finished a close second in the championship flight with a 148 after scoring a 78 and a tournament low score of 70 on Sunday. Johnnye Ford claimed third place in the championship flight with a 149. He knocked down scores of 72 and 77 in the two-day tournament.

"Wyatt (Boyett) is one of the hardest working guys at our club," Tournament director Todd Perry said. "He has been trying for this for a long time it was great to see him win it."

Boyett entered the tournament for the sixth consecutive year.

Perry also was pleased with local participation where the tournament saw a high turn out with great community support for the event.

"This is our flagship event," Perry said. "I felt like we had great participation. This is always our highlight event of the season for our members."

The size and scope of the event has grown each year. Plans are underway to make next year's event an even bigger success.

"Every club looks at their club championship as their main event," Perry said. "It turned out to be a great weekend of golf."
