Bulldogs, Wildcats to meet in annual grudge match Two of the area's most heated rivals will meet on the gridiron to battle for bragging rights.
That's what is at stake when the Wossman Wildcats host the Carroll Bulldogs Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Wildcats running back Robert Williams ran for 214 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wossman offense last week. It will be up to Wossman's running game to establish its presence early against a solid C-Dog defensive front.
"Carroll does a real good job on defense," said Wossman coach Vincent Landrum. "We are going to have our hands full."
"We need to be more consistent to beat Carroll," Landrum said. "We had too many mental mistakes" in last week's action.
Wossman (1-0) had a few drives at Logansport in week one of the season that were hindered by penalties. While Landrum is concerned about the number of infractions his Wildcats committed at Logansport, the C-Dogs will pose a bigger physical test for Wossman. Landrum respects Carroll's offense, too.
"They spread you out offensively," Landrum said. "I think the big key for us is to contain their team speed."
Carroll was forced to cancel its game with Ouachita last week because rain Hurricane Gustav dumped on Ouachita Parish prevented the Bulldogs from practicing.
Meanwhile, an experienced Carroll defense looks to stop Wossman's vaunted rushing attack of Wossman, led by Williams, who appears headed toward a great year at Wossman. |
