Mustangs poised to battle ACCS Rebels in Natchez

River Oakes hit the road to Adams County Christian School in Natchez, Miss., Thursday night in another match-up with a solid Mississippi Private School Association ball club.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The game can be heard on Talk Radio AM 540.

Coach Robert Hannah has seen some marked improvement in the Mustangs' defense play in each game of the 2008 season. River Oaks is 2-1 on the year.

"We did a good job of intensity on defense," Hannah said. "We need to continue to play with that type of intensity."

Cody Trichell has played well all season for the Mustangs at quarterback, but Hannah believes River Oaks must develop a balanced attack for the Mustangs to be successful as the season unfolds.

John Rockett and Vince Moore have a pair of touchdowns to their name after River Oaks' 19-6 win over arch-rival Riverfield last week.

"Offensively we have to keep throwing the ball," Hannah said. "It is really important for us to establish a running game, too."

ACCS (0-3) has played top ranked competition in the MPSA this season. The Rebels have enjoyed a size advantage on the offensive line most of the way in spite of their 0-3 start.

That's physical advantage for ACCS that concerns Hannah.

"They have really good offensive line size," Hannah said. "Defensively we must stop their running game."
