Warriors run all over Ringgold
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
A week after struggling to find the end zone in a jamboree loss to Ouachita Christian, St. Frederick found its offensive groove Friday to route Ringgold.

The Warriors (1-0) scored early and often to stuff the Tigers, 41-6. Chris Buttitta scored two rushing touchdowns in the first half to put St. Frederick on top for good.

A 91-yard run was the highlight of the night for Buttitta, while the Warriors dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage throughout the contest.

First-year quarterback Landon Williams led the offense on multiple scoring drives. Williams threw for three scores and ran for another one. Williams had a good week of practice and turned in a solid performance under center for the Warriors.

St. Frederick coaches entered the Ringgold match-up wanting to see their offense overcome common mistakes and sustain scoring drives. It only took the Warriors minutes to prove they were a different ball club that took the field against OCS. Working in tandem, Buttitta and Williams methodically moved the Warriors down field on their first offensive series.

The St. Fredrick defense limited Ringgold to less than 100 yards total offense and forced two fumbles.
