LSU, Troy game cancelled BATON ROUGE – The LSU vs. Troy football game, originally scheduled to be played in Tiger Stadium this Saturday night, has been postponed until November 15 in the wake of Hurricane Gustav. November 15 was an open date on the schedule of both schools.
"The welfare of the people of Baton Rouge, the uncertain power issues facing all of us and the condition of Tiger Stadium were all factors in making this decision," said LSU director of athletics Joe Alleva. "We are fortunate that both schools had a common open date later in the year. I am appreciative of the cooperation of the good people at Troy for their understanding of this situation."
Fans are advised to keep their Game 2 tickets for the LSU-Troy game to use on November 15. In addition, LSU soccer and volleyball events scheduled for this weekend have been cancelled. The LSU Soccer Complex suffered considerable damage from Hurricane Gustav and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, home of the volleyball team, is being utilized as a medical special needs facility. |
