West Monroe tops Neville in jamboree play

West Monroe started slowly offensively but rode a strong defensive effort and a strong second half performance from senior quarterback D.J. Banks en route to a 14-6 victory over the Neville Tigers in jamboree action Saturday night at Bayou Jamb.

Some 20,405 fans turned out at ULM's Malone Stadium this year's Bayou Jamb, which featured eight schools from across north Louisiana.

Neville opened up the scoring with a touchdown run late in the first half but the Rebels blocked the extra point to give the Tigers the 6-0 advantage.

West Monroe found an offensive groove late in the first half to take a 7-6 lead at the half.

West Monroe sealed the game after a LaDarius Abrams touchdown run of 18 yards late in the contest.
