Ouachita parish seniors enjoyed a Hawaiian luau Tuesday at the West Ouachita Senior Center.

The annual event is a traditional way to celebrate life and say farewell to summer. This event was co-sponsored by Kilpatrick Funeral Homes. T

he menu featured "pit-roasted suckling pig" with fresh pineapple, ham, yams, and tropical fruits.

This authentic Hawaiian event featured a hula dance contest. Dorothy Anderson, Clara Coleman and Carla Conerly were the three winners of the hula contest with the youngest dancer being 81 years of age.

Sheriff Royce Toney presented the winners with gift cards.

The "Broadway Wannabe's Cast," under the direction of Delilah Jones, kept the crowd in stitches with their entertainment portraying Elvis Presley, Liberace and Ginger Rogers. The costumes for the performance of the Broadway Wannabe's were made possible with a C.A.B.L.E. grant (Communities Acting to Benefit Louisiana's Elderly).
