Komen race set for Sept. 13 at Forsythe Park

The 2008 Northeast Louisiana Komen Race for the Cure will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, at Forsythe Park in Monroe.

Teams are being accepted through Aug. 29. To register a team, contact Tommi Bratton at tabratton@yahoo.com. Individuals may register online at www.komennortheastlouisiana.org or pick up an entry form at local sponsors, including The Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute, Glenwood Regional Medical Center, Kitty DeGree Breast Health Center or anywhere there is a pink ribbon sign.

Affiliate representatives will be available at Pecanland Mall (in front of the old Stage department store) from noon-6 p.m. Sept. 10-12 applications as well. The fee to register in advance is $25 and the day of the race, $30.

The Northeast Louisiana Race netted over $140,000 in 2007. As a result, more than $100,000 was distributed through an established grants review process to various organizations from throughout Northeast Louisiana who are committed to breast cancer prevention, education and service. Recipients were the Louisiana Cancer Foundation, Delhi Rural Health Clinic, Kitty DeGree Breast Health Center, Richardson Medical Center, Franklin Parish Medical Center and Jackson Parish Hospital.

Race Day Schedule

6:30 a.m. — Race number pick-up for late registrants (not applicable for race teams)

7:00 a.m. — Survivor Tent Opens

7:45 a.m. — Welcome and Aerobic Warm-Up

8:00 a.m. — 5K Run/1 mile Walk/Kids for the Cure

9:30 a.m. — Awards Ceremony and Survivor Recognition
