Members of the Louisiana Chapter of American Mothers, Inc., met recently for their annual convention-report luncheon at Bayou DeSiard Country Club. Ruth Mickel was hostess for the event.

President Bonnie Hales introduced Anita Brown, the Louisiana State Mother of the Year for 2008, who related her experience in representing Louisiana at the National American Mothers convention in Lincoln, Neb. Brown, who is from Natchitoches, reported that she had an enjoyable and inspirational time at the many convention activities, including especially the formal banquet at which all the state mothers were presented individually to the large assembly. Jean Jordan, also from Natchitoches, accompanied Brown to the convention. Jordan was the Louisiana state mother for 2001.

The purpose of American Mothers, Inc., is to strengthen the moral and spiritual foundation for the family and the home. Membership is open to all mothers.

Guests are welcome at the meetings, which are held bimonthly from September through May at 2 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month.

For information, call Bonnie Hales at 396-3586.
