Monroe student wins scholarship

Kelsei Suidy of Monroe is one of 23 students from across the state who was awarded a scholarship by The Louisiana Bankers Education Council.

"We are pleased to award these students freshman scholarship to help in their pursuit of higher education. We wish all of them the best in accomplishing their goals," said LBEC President Jason D. Smith, executive vice president and senior loan officer of Citizens National Bank in Bossier City.

Each fall, LBEC offers $1,000 cash scholarships to incoming freshmen who have at least one parent employed by a bank in Louisiana. The students must enroll in an accredited Louisiana college or university with a declared major in the college of business.

The Louisiana Bankers Education Council is the educational outreach arm of the Louisiana Bankers Association that was started in 1957. The LBEC volunteers work with high school and elementary students to promote the banking industry and increase their understanding of the economy, finance and banking.

For more information on the scholarship, go to the consumers section of www.lba.org.
