The Forsythe Park Tennis Complex was dedicated as the John G. Maroney Tennis Complex at a ceremony Wednesday.

Maroney was a long-time engineer who worked on countless city of Monroe projects and many other developments before passing away in 2007.

Mayor Jamie Mayo said, "This is a another project for us to be Monroe Proud about. We are very happy to dedicate this complex in honor of a husband, father and businessman who has helped enhance our city by supporting many worthwhile causes and working on a plethora of long-standing municipal, residential and commercial projects."

The expansion project began in the fall of 2007 and consists of new courts, lighting, landscaping, fencing and pro shop.
