Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council invite residents and visitors of northeast Louisiana to celebrate Aviation Day at the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, beginning with a press conference at 10:30 a.m. this Thursday, Aug. 21. Activities will last from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Aviation Day is a part of a state-wide, week-long celebration of National Aviation Week.

National Aviation Week is a week for education, awareness, and a celebration of aviation. It is celebrated annually during the week of Orville Wright's birthday, Aug. 19.

Food will be provided, including roasted pork sandwiches, jambalaya, hot-dogs and more. The public is invited to attend.

The local Aviation Day activities are being sponsored and presented by the Monroe Regional Airport and the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
