Support group to begin Aug. 17

The local chapter of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance will host regular, confidential, peer-led support group meetings on the third Monday of each month at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2510 Emerson St., Monroe.

This month's meeting will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 17. Participants should enter at the front door of the church and signs will direct them to the meeting place.

DBSA support groups are open to anyone who has been diagnosed with a mood disorder, has a friend or family member with a diagnosis, or anyone who thinks they might have depression or bipolar disorder.

DBSA support groups are not run by professionals, but instead offer peer-to-peer support, which is an important component of recovery for many people.

For more information, call 801-1572 or 235-5115, or go online to www.dbsalliance.org.
