Ruddick, Emory marry at North Monroe Baptist Church

Julie Burdette Ruddick and Daniel Landon Emory, both of West Monroe, were united in holy matrimony during a candlelight ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008, at North Monroe Baptist Church in Monroe. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Monroe F. Copeland of Bernice and the bride was given in marriage by her parents.

Julie is the daughter of John Michael and Rhonda Nelms Ruddick of West Monroe, and David Paul and Charlotte Sutton LeBlanc on Baton Rouge. She is the granddaughter of Betty Phipps Sutton and the late Don William Sutton of Gibsland, and Murl Shows Ruddick and the late Godfrey John Ruddick of West Monroe.

Daniel is the son of Sandra Brown Emory and the late Robert Larry Emory Sr. of West Monroe. He is the grandson of the late Carmel Clark Brown of West Monroe, the late John Perry Brown of Shreveport, the late Ernestine Berry Emory and the late Sherwood Lamar Emory Sr. of West Monroe.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory bridal gown designed by Mori Lee by Madeline Gardner. The strapless A-line gown made of satin organza had silver embroidery that surrounded the bodice and the met the draped empire. The dropped waistline flowed onto the skirt with a chapel-length train. Her headpiece was an ivory, elbow-length veil made of soft tulle with a satin edge that was held by a crystal tiara. She carried a bouquet of red mini calla lilies wrapped with ivory satin ribbon.

Jill Ruddick Walker, sister of the bride of Shreveport, served as matron of honor, and Shelby Katherine Bass, cousin of the bride of Bossier City, served as maid of honor. Both carried a bouquet of three white calla lilies wrapped with yellow satin ribbon. Serving as bridesmaids were Meredith Smith Caver of Spring, Texas; Jeni Long Davis of Monroe; Rebecca Arnold Hawk of Pineville; Sara Nolan Pardue of West Monroe; Bevin Brooks Sutton, cousin of the bride of Shreveport; Kristi Suzanne Walker of Ruston; Amanda Renee Wall of Lewisville, Texas; and Allison Elaine Wilder of Dallas, Texas. Each carried a single white calla lily wrapped with yellow satin ribbon. All of the attendants wore tea-length red dresses made of dupioni silk by Watters and Watters.

Jason Lowell Emory, brother of the groom of Lewisville, Texas, served as best man. Serving as groomsmen were Cecil Wayne Barfield Jr., Robert John Breen and Jacob Inn Lenard, all of West Monroe; Robert Larry Emory Jr., brother of the groom of Rayville; Zach Thompson Green, James Bridwell Hollis and Clinton Lane Johnston, all of Monroe; Robert Justin McDaniel of Denham Springs; and Richard Anthony Perkins of Covington.

Ushers were Don William Sutton III, cousin of the bride of Baton Rouge, and Paul Wyman Walker, brother-in-law of the bride of Shreveport.

The flower girl was Peyton Lauren Emory, niece of the groom of Lewisville, Texas, and bell ringer was Gavin Christopher Thomas of West Monroe.

Soloists for the ceremony were Melissa Elise Clark of West Monroe and Hillary Rapp Frisby of El Dorado, Ark. Music was provided by pianist Sharon Lee of West Monroe.

Ceremony greeters were Hayden Louise Emory, niece of the groom of West Monroe, Jennifer Lynn Estep of Bastrop, and Jennifer Beaubouef Pylant of Fort Worth, Texas.

Serving as day of coordinator was DeLane Ruddick Morrow, aunt of the bride of Jonesboro. Photography was provided by Dale Wallace Photography of Monroe and videography by Kidd Video Productions of West Monroe.

Following the wedding, a reception was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites in Monroe where the band LC Smoove of Monroe performed. The wedding and groom's cakes were created by Terry Harris with the Sugar Shack Cakery in Homer.

The bride is a graduate of West Monroe High School and Louisiana Tech University where she received a masters in Family and Child Development and was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She is employed as an academic advisor with the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

The groom is a graduate of West Monroe High School and the University of Louisiana at Monroe where he received a bachelors in Exercise Science. He is employed as a catastrophe claims adjuster with Allstate Insurance.

After returning from a honeymoon cruise, the couple will reside in Monroe.
