Opal Calloway Billings
Mrs. Opal Calloway Billings, 83, of West Monroe, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008, at StoneyBrook Memory Care Assisted Living in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Minister Don DeLukie officiating and Jamie Wilhite delivering the eulogy. Interment was at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation was immediately before the service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Cleo Billings; son, Leon Billings; sister, Thelma Malmay; and a brother, Clifford Calloway.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Michael Billings and wife, Sandra, of Weston, Keith Billings and wife, Debbie, of West Monroe; and Michele Coker and husband, Mark, of Calhoun; daughter-in-law, Liz Billings; sister-in-law, Audrey Calloway of West Monroe; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Gary Futch, Jamie Wilhite, Terry Ware, L.V. Kane, Terry Hebert and Wesley Coker.

Earnest Russell Boseman
Funeral services for Earnest Russell Boseman, 58, of West Monroe, were at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008, at New Life Wesleyan Church with Rev. Kevin Ropp officiating. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. at Lakewood Cemetery (Old Crossett Cemetery) in Crossett, Ark., under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Wednesday evening.
Survivors include his children, Patrick Alan Boseman, Alison Michelle Boseman and Ashley Marie Boseman Ballance and husband, Dustan; and two grandchildren, Avery Lynn and Ainsley Joyce Lucille Ballance.
Pallbearers were Dustan Ballance, Ian Kinney, B.J. Simmons, Mike McElwee, Frank Sampognaro and Doug Wall.
Honorary pallbearers included the Voith Family.

Gail Dugal Bulloch
Mrs. Gail Dugal Bulloch, 75, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, after a lengthy illness in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Church with Father Edmund Moore and Father Mark Watson officiating. Interment was at Monroe Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Monroe. Visitation was immediately before the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Edward Dugal Sr. and the former Mary Maude Richard Dugal and one brother, Gordon Edward Dugal Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Russell Bulloch; two children, M'Lise Bulloch Webb and her husband, Gordon Webb, of Plano, Texas, and Dr. Brian Bulloch and his wife, Lydia Bulloch, of Monroe; four grandchildren, Blaine Bulloch, Scott Bulloch, Jackson Webb and Stephen Webb; her sister, Corinne Bidwell of Lafayette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Gordon Webb, Jon and Scott Bidwell, Dr. Jonathan Joseph, Dr. Buddy Rizzo and Chris Soignier. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Buddy Bodron and John Birdsong.

Willie Mae Brantley
Willie Mae Brantley, 85, of West Monroe died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at the West Monroe Guest House.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Revs. Cecil Gregory and Everette Geis officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was Friday evening at the funeral home.
Survivors include her children, Mittie Jane Morrison, Ruby Nell Morrison and husband, Jack; grandchildren, Jesse Paul Morrison and wife, Amy, and Diane M. Gregory and husband, Matt.

Edward F. Dalton
Mr. Edward F. Dalton, 94, of Sun City West, Ariz., and formerly of Monroe, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery with Msgr. Edmund Moore officiating. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Albert Edwin Dewees
Mr. Albert Edwin Dewees, 68, of Calhoun, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at his residence.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at First United Methodist Church of West Monroe, with Revs. Jon Tellifero and Marla Munn officiating. Burial was in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Friday evening at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Amy Hood Dewees; daughter, Whitney Davison of Choudrant; son, Jason Dewees and wife, Jessica, of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Michael and Emily Davison; and cousin, Betty Maddry.
Pallbearers were Larry Furlow, Bo deBlieux, Hillman Willis, Richard Harris, Howard Hobson, O'Neil Falgoust, Jim Turner and Ted Lamprich. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Huckabay and the Senior Men's Golf Association at Calvert Crossing.

Penny Lee Halbrook
Penny Lee Halbrook, 57, of Monroe, passed away Monday, July 21, 2008, after a brief illness.
Survivors include her son, Michael Halbrook of Bossier City; daughter, Carrie Tucker of Monroe; and two sisters, Glenda Webb Catttell and Ann Schneider.
Visitation was from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mary Irene Hall
Mrs. Irene Hall, 102, of Bastrop, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at home with her family.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Revs. Terry Mims and Doug Hughes officiating. Interment was in Loch Arbor Cemetery. Visitation was Friday evening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Hall; and children, Dorothy Langston, Mary Ingram, Eugene Hall and Barney Hall, Jr.
Survivors include her three daughters, Doris Hofford of Bastrop, Emilie Jinks of West Monroe and Shirley Stewart of Bossier City; two sons, W.D. Hall of Rockford, Ill., and G.W. Hall of Fairbanks; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Truman Hollie of Senatobia, Miss..
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Dorothy Lee Brooks Humble
Mrs. Dorothy Lee Brooks Humble, 84, of West Monroe, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008, in West Monroe.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Twin Cities Memorial Garden in West Monroe with Rev. Wesley Pittman officiating. Visitation was Monday evening at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth E. Humble; son, David Lee Cantrell and wife, Elizabeth, of Shreveport; grandson, Kevin David Cantrell and wife, Christina, of Manhatten Beach, Calif; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Ann and Robert Sullivan, Dennis and Pat Glenon; and one great-grandchild on the way.

Doris May Cobon McDowell
A private interment was held at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008, for Doris May Cobon McDowell. Visitation was then held from 10-11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Monroe. A memorial service was at 11 a.m. at the church with Dr. Bruce Rux officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. McDowell.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail L. Boggs of Cincinnati, Ohio, and son, Robert F. McDowell and wife, Susan, of Monroe; grandchildren, William C. McDowell of Memphis, Tenn., Robert A. McDowell of Corpus Christi, Texas, John E. McDowell of Dallas, Texas, Christopher Boggs of Garner, N.C., and David Boggs and wife, Margaret, of Cincinnati, Ohio, great-grandchildren, Lauren E. McDowell of Atlanta, Ga., William and Cameron May McDowell, and Kristin Boggs, of Garner, N.C.; sister, Gladys Cobon Hurst of Oshawa, Ontario; Canadian nieces and nephews, Nancy Gibb and husband, Allan, Russell Goheen and wife, Nancy, and Tom Goheen and his daughter, Lindsay; and nephew, Michael Hurst and wife, Tina, of Taipei, Taiwan.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandson. Honorary pallbearers were Tracy R. Moore of Columbia, Mo. and Donald Ray Updegraff of Shreveport.

Lorece Mock McGee
Mrs. Lorece Mock McGee, 87, died on Friday, July 25, 2008, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe. Retired pastor Bruce McGee and Pastor Charles Dupree officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Sunday evening at the funeral home and Monday morning at the church.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Julian Burton "Burt" McGee; children, Bruce McGee and wife, Ann, Sandy McGee, Kathy Wolfe and husband, Jim, Phyllis Freeman and husband, Mike; sister, Mildred Cantrell; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Irving Sills, Scott Sills, Timothy Mock, Michael Cummings, Ted McEnery and Kurt McEnery. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons.

Francis A. Phillips
Francis A. Phillips, 93, of West Monroe, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at home with his family after fighting a lengthy illness.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 25, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Jon Tellifero officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Calhoun.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Wesley and Zephie West Phillips and by his beloved wife of 56 years, Maxine Ross Phillips; daughter in-law, Olivia Phillips; and son in-law, Dewitt Methvin.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances Phillips Methvin of Alexandria and Nancy Blanchard and husband, Conrad, of West Monroe; two sons, William Ross Phillips and wife, Pat, of Rocky Branch and George Phillips of Star, Miss.; grandchildren, Marc Phillips and wife, Jodie, of Kingwood, Texas, Dr. Jennifer Warford of Silver Spring, Md., Will Phillips of Houston, Texas, Anna Phillips of Monroe, Jessica Decelle and husband, Morgan, of Monroe, and Noel Grower and wife, Stephanie, of Star, Miss.; and two great-grandchildren, Scott Phillips of Kingwood, Texas, and Elliot Grower of Star, Miss.
Pallbearers were nephews, Walter "Buster" Bounds, G. Charles Phillips, and Charles B. Phillips; grandsons, Marc Phillips and Will Phillips and Johnny Roan.
Honorary pallbearers were Richard Whitehead and Benny Chapman.

Betty J. Russell
Betty J. Russell, 68 of Eros, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Gary Brewster officiating. Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation was Thursday evening and Friday immediately before the service.
She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Hebert and a brother, Calvin Ruiz.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Mickey Russell of Eros; two sons, Paul Hebert of Pea Ridge and partner, Janice Hall, of Ruston, Mark Hebert and wife, Kathy, of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; two daughters, Cindi Poindexter and husband, Greg, of Bay St. Louis, Miss., Sandy Shields of Waynesville, N.C.; three sisters, Nancy Bourgeois of Meraux, Sharon Braud of Chalmette, and Peggy Barcelona of Chalmette; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her favorite aunt, Eula Lala, of Westwego; cousin, Diane Landry Toops of Westwego; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jesse Thomas, 69, of Monroe, passed away Friday, July 25, 2008, in Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Beryl.
