Cultura members spend 'thyme' at garden Cultura Book Club members met in June at "Thyme in the Garden" as their annual summer outing.
The group met in the garden of the western Ouachita Parish home of Teresa Morris on Larry Henry Road. They toured the garden, where many varieties of herbs grew including thyme, basil, rosemary and mint. Morris explained the uses for each herb and picked samples for the club to feel and smell.
After the tour, a lunch featuring the use of herbs in every dish was served in Morris' home. During the meal, president Sue Drewett welcomed the 20 members present. She also thanked Morris for her hospitality and she thanked the hostesses, Nina Albright, Jean Halsell and Ouida Oxford for their work.
Sue Greer, outgoing historian, presented the 2007-2008 scrapbook to outgoing president Kitty Liner, along with a framed picture of Liner at the May meeting in her home.
Throughout their time at "Thyme in the Garden," club members remarked on Morris' creativity, which was evident throughout her home and yard. Club members said they had enjoyed an unusual, delicious and inspirational visit. |
