Free event to check child car seats this Saturday in Monroe
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
A free event to check the safety of children's car seats will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Sparks Nissan of Monroe (off I-20 and Millhaven Road near Home Depot and Target).

The event is open to the public. Free refreshments, including drinks, burgers and hot dogs, will be provided. State police will have a rollover simulator on hand for demonstrations.

Louisiana statistics show nine out of 10 child seats are not installed correctly and have at least two errors. To lower misuse in this area, nationally certified child-passenger safety technicians will be on hand to provide free evaluations and offer educational information.

Louisiana State Police, Sparks Nissan of Monroe, Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force and the Monroe Police Department are sponsoring the event.

The event will be held rain or shine, and appointments are not necessary.
