WM hosts softball tourneys

Two state softball tournaments will be played at the Biedenharn Sports Complex in West Monroe beginning Saturday.

The Dixie Angels, 9-10 year-old girls tournament will include two West Monroe teams and the Dixie Debs, 16-18 year-olds will include one West Monroe team.

Brackets for the teams cannot be set until Friday, according to Scooter Rushing, Dixie assistant athletic director.

The players will come in Friday for the drawings and the brackets will be announced then.

Times for the games are 11 a.m., Saturday for the Dixie Angels and 1 p.m., Saturday for the Dixie Debs.

The schedules will be available Saturday at Biedenharn. Check there to find out when your team plays.

Dixie Angels teams include West Monroe Nationals and West Monroe Americans, DeRidder, Madisonville, Belle Chase, Bastrop, Sabine and Pineville.

Dixie Debs teams include West Monroe, Alexandria, Madisonville, Jefferson Parish, Caldwell and Ferriday.

The Dixie Debs tournament concludes Tuesday and the Dixie Angels tournament concludes Wednesday.
