Edwards making adjustments
Tyler Edwards, an Ouachita graduate and top LSU prospect, is currently at LSU taking summer courses.
"He's a great player," said Ouachita coach John Carr, his former coach. "He's very physical, football smart and very competitive. LSU really got a great player when they got him."
For starters, Edwards was a three-year wide receiver starter at Ouachita, and for three years he made the 5A All-State team as well as the all-district team. He also played at least one game as fullback.
He caught 22 passes for over 400 yards and he scored three touchdowns in his senior season for the Lions.
"It's really different down here," Edwards said in a telephone interview Thursday.
"It's a job now. Everything is different. Everything is harder. You have to know a lot more plays. My older brother kind of helped me get ready for it."
Eric Edwards, Tyler Edwards' older brother played at LSU during the NIck Saban era.
"We have two hours of football drills every day," Edwards said. "But I came here because i felt it was the best situation for me. It's completely different here."
Edwards is currently rooming with Matt Branch, who is also a freshman and also on the Tigers football team.
Will Blackwell from West Monroe is also playing at LSU.
"He's doing real good down there," said West Monroe coach Don Shows. "He's an all-state player. They (LSU) are getting a quality player."
Both Blackwell and his LSU teammate Shomori Clemons are from the state 5A championship team of 2005. |
