OIB growth continues

Ouachita Independent Bank has continued to grow in the first six months of 2008, despite dismal national conditions, said chairman and chief executive officer Clyde White.

"While the news regarding financial performance and stock prices has been dismal on the national scene, OIB has continued to grow and prosper in north Louisiana," White said Thursday.

The bank increased its total assets to $372,780,000 as of June 30, an increase of more than $31 million from one year ago. The bank posted a net income of $2,572,000 for the six month period, a 7.4-percent increase over June 30, 2007. This level of earnings represents a 1.44-percent return on average assets and a 17.77-precent return on average equity for its stockholders.

"We continue to grow in the five cities and four parishes where we have branches, and we have opened a new branch in Shreveport in June and will open a second branch in Bossier City by this fall," White said.
