Jindal appoints local to LSU Board of Supervisors Gov. Bobby Jindal announced on Tuesday two appointments to the LSU Board of Supervisors, including James W. Moore Jr. of Monroe.
The goal of the Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors is to provide leadership and support for the Louisiana State University System. The board aids the Louisiana State University System in the development of the highest levels of intellectual and professional endeavor in programs of instruction, research, and public service. The three key functions of the board include: increasing opportunities for student access and success, ensuring the quality and accountability of Louisiana State University, and enhancing services to the community and the state.
The board is composed of sixteen gubernatorial appointments which are subject to senate confirmation. The board members include two members who are appointed from each congressional district, one member who is appointed from the state at large, and one student member who serves a one year term. All other members serve a term of six years.
R. Blake Chatelain, of Alexandria was also appointed Tuesday.
Moore is currently an owner and developer with Marriott and Hilton Hotels. He will serve in one of the two slots designated for the 5th Congressional District, as required by statute. |
