Dr. and Mrs. Gary Dwain Ellerman of Radford, Va., announce the engagement of their daughter, Anna Katherine, to William Henderson Shurley. 

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Lizzie Hollingsworth Whitten and the late James Oliver Whitten of Oak Grove, and Willie Esther Ellerman and the late Donnie Excelle Ellerman of Winnsboro. She is a graduate of Radford High School, The College of William and Mary, and Duke University Divinity School, and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in pastoral theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. 

The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Mercer Shurley of Monroe, and the grandson of Mary Roth Rymer and the late Herman Henderson Rymer of Monroe, and the late Lt. Col. and Mrs. William Robert Shurley Jr., of Benton, Miss. He is a graduate of St. Frederick High School, Baylor University, and Princeton Theological Seminary.  He is a minister of word and sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). 

The couple will be married on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the First Baptist Church of Radford, Va., with Rev. N. Kent Taylor officiating. The couple will celebrate their marriage with a reception at Rockwood Manor, a 19th century Virginia manor house that has been opened to the public as a bed and breakfast.
