Claudia "Joe" Foster Balfour
Funeral services for Claudia "Joe" Foster Balfour, 91, of Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Marla Munn officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation was Thursday evening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Balfour, in 2004.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy Balfour and wife, Ellen; daughter, Becky Ham and husband, Mike; granddaughter, Margaret Balfour and husband, Adam McGaughey, of Dallas, Texas; grandson, Jay Balfour of Arlington, Va.; sister, Marjorie Malone of Dallas, Texas; brother, George A. Foster Jr. of Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were Alan Barth, Gordon Davis, George Foster III, Flynn Foster, Rod Guy and Mike Nelson. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Beakey, Mickey Prestridge, Joe Jack, Clint Beakey and George Wiley.
Memorials may be made to Louisiana College or the Baptist Children's Home.

Sallie Stancil Pace Benton
Mrs. Sallie Stancil Pace Benton, 81, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. David Worthington officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday evening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl V. Stancil, and both husbands, Oscar Pace Jr. and Hugh C. Benton Jr.
Survivors include her three daughters, Effie Pace, Jo Anne Moseley and husband, Greg, and Marynell Hardin and husband, Charles; one son, Larry Pace and wife, Tara; five granddaughters, Mitzie Pace, Sarah, Rebekah and Andrea Hardin, and Jeanna Aaron; three grandsons, Daric and Daniel Pace, and Johnny Wheat; two great-grandsons, Byron and Matthew Pace; and three sisters, Mary Davis, Carline Rowell and Etta Yarbrough.
Pallbearers were Kermit Bearden, Charles Hardin, Jerry Rowell, J.L. Rowell, Danny Yarbrough and David Yarbrough.
Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Hays B. Clark Jr.
Mr. Hays B. Clark, Jr., 84, of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008, in Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe with Rev. Gregg Riley officiating. Interment was in Jonesboro Cemetery in Jonesboro under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Visitation was Friday evening at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, N. Dean Stinson Clark in 2005, and grandson, Charles Allen Reneau Jr. in 1998.
Survivors include his daughters, Shela Murphy and husband, George, of Mansfield, Texas, and Shawn C. Dorn and husband, Roger, of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Kelly M. Sampley and husband, Stuart, of Austin, Texas, and great-granddaughters, Bailee Reneau of Denver City, Texas, and Murphy Lucille Sampley of Austin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lions League for Crippled Children in Leesville, LA, or St. LaSalle Auxiliary, de LaSalle Christian Brothers, 1522 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, LA 70501, or Hospice Care of Louisiana, Inc., 2213 Justice Ave., Monroe, LA 71201.
Pallbearers were Matt Romano, James M. Barry, A.W. Block, Omar Elgourani, Shelby Watson and Floyd Stewart.

Mabel Collins Devereux
Mrs. Mabel Collins Devereux, 88, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Monroe, with Rev. Sebastian Kallarackal officiating. Visitation was immediately before the service. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James K. Devereux; special uncle, Hugh L. Collins; son, James C. Devereux; and one grandchild, Jennifer Devereux.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Henson and husband, Max, Susan Bennett and husband, Danny, and Peggy Sims; son, Tim Devereux and wife, Joni; daughter-in-law, Saundra Devereux; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Lois A. Gabbert
Mrs. Lois A. Gabbert, 80, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at Swartz Church of Christ with Richard Byrd officiating. Interment was in Bartholomew Cemetery in Bastrop. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was Friday evening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Gabbert.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Sikes and husband, Mike, of Monroe, and Pat Watkins and husband, Mark, of Palmer, Alaska; son, Robert G. Gabbert of Monroe; brother, Otto Barron of Newport, Ark.; sister, Alice Bridges of Pearl, Miss.; three grandchildren, Sydni Sikes of Monroe, and Christopher Watkins and Rosanna Evenden, both of Palmer, Alaska; and great-grandchildren, Tristan Watkins, and Freedom, Forrest and Flower Evenden.
Pallbearers were Mike Sikes, Jerry Sikes, Glen Keefer, Ray Pierce, Huey Ellis and B.J. Ramsey.

Tony Jack Halley
Mr. Tony Jack Halley, 75, of Monroe, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Swartz First Baptist Church with Dr. Alan Miller officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was Tuesday evening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Zack Spence; brothers, J. D. Halley and Mickey Joe Halley; and sister, Claudie Rutherford Standridge.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Lee Halley; children, Toni Dianne Halley Moore and husband, David R. of Start, and Gina Rene' Halley Spence and husband, Randy, of Farmerville; four grandchildren, Chad Moore and wife, Laura, of Monroe, Kyle Moore of Start, Randi Spence of Baton Rouge and T.J. Spence of Farmerville; two great-grandchildren, Shelby and Josh Moore of Monroe; brother, Bill Halley and wife, Harriett; sisters, Dorothy Gilmore and husband, Tommy, Mollie Sutton and husband, Wayne, Nell Whitt and husband, John, and Lynette Knight; sisters-in-law, Rita Halley and Frenchie Halley; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Paul Hare, Wesley Jinks, David Speir, Jessie Roberts, Bruce King and Jerry Freeland. Honorary pallbearers were the Louis Auttonberry Sunday School Class.

Gerald Wayne Hendrix
Gerald Wayne Hendrix, 55, of West Monroe, quietly and honorably left this earth early Monday morning after a fierce and courageous battle with Scleroderma.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Travis Arrant and Bill Schooley officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun. Visitation was Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kendall and Sadie Ball, Simmie and Essie Hendrix and his father-in-law, Claude Boles.
Survivors include his adoring wife of 32 years, Janet Boles Hendrix; his two "girls" Amanda Hendrix and Ashley Hendrix; his parents, Jim and Dale Hendrix; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Glen Risher; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Terri Hendrix; sister-in-law and husband, Ruth and Tommy Gist; brother-in-law and wife, Bobby and Bo Boles; mother-in-law, Willie Boles; numerous adoring nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and his "best" canine companion, Harley.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Beavers, Bruce Cunningham, Mike Griffith, Joe Shepherd, Bobby Hendrix and Robert Sabo. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Hendrix, Glen Risher, Bobby Boles, Tommy Gist and John Stump.

Randy Ray Jordan
Randy Ray Jordan, 42, of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Dr. Greg Clark officiating. Interment was in Twin Cities Memorial Garden. Visitation was Thursday evening and Friday morning.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Ray Jordan; sister, Beverly Lynn Jordan; and grandparents, Lila Burlew and Rossie Burlew and Lillie and Lonnie Jordan.
Survivors include two sons, Jacob Ray Jordan and Caden Joel Jordan; his loving and devoted mother, Shirley Jordan; two sisters, Vikki McDonald Simpson and husband, Mike, and Jana Duchesne; nephews, Eddie McDonald and wife, Brandilyn and Zachary Duchesne; niece, Jordan McDonald; great nephew, Jackson McDonald and great niece, Jansen McDonald; mother of his children, Sonya Davidson; and special friends, Susan Sullivan, Maxine Jarrell and Kim Thompson.
Pallbearers were Zachary Duchesne, Coty Muey, Zach Parker, Mac Downey, Tyler Putnam and Quentin Henry.

Doris Calk Bolin Kratz
Mrs. Doris Calk Bolin Kratz, 81, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008.
Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at McGuire United Methodist Church in West Monroe, with Rev. Michi Head officiating. Her wishes were to donate her body to science at LSU Medical in Shreveport. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David W. Calk and Annie Crawford Calk, and husband, Dr. Lawrence Kratz.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Bolin; step-daughter, Karen Tesdahl; brother, O.D. Calk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Earl L. McManus
Mr. Earl L. McManus, 81, of West Monroe, passed away Friday, June 20, 2008, at his residence.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Revs. Andy Myrick, Bob Bridges, Owen Jones and James Murphy officiating. Interment was in Springhill Cemetery in Swartz. Visitation was Sunday evening.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary Spires McManus; two daughters, Mildred Wagner and husband, Robert, and Kathy Hargrove and husband, Mark; a son, Chester McManus; four grandsons; five great-grandchildren; four brothers; a sister; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Billy Arnold Muffett
Mr. Billy Arnold Muffett, 77, of Monroe, was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 15, at his residence.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Dr. Bill Dye and Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation was Wednesday evening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Margaret Muffett.
Left behind to cherish his loving memory is his wife of 57 years, Janet Lusk Muffett; sister, Donna Jay of Abilene, Texas; a niece in Tampa, Fla.; a nephew in Abilene, Texas; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Mark Leath, David Leath, Leslie Denison, Kelly Jay, Casey Jay and Larry Lusk.

Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Vestal Phelps; sons, Dr. Dwight S. Phelps and wife, Lynda, of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Dr. Dennis L. Phelps and wife, Robbin, of New Orleans; grandchildren, Amanda Lee Phelps DeLisle and husband, Garrett, Adam Montgomery and Angela of Denver, Colo., Kristen Phelps of Conway, Ark., and David Phelps of New Orleans; great-grandchildren, Logan Kurtis DeLisle and Bryson Montgomery; one brother, Bernie Louis Phelps of Monroe; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Fred R. Spillers Sr.
Fred R. Spillers, Sr., 71, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2008, after a lengthy illness.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, with his friend Judge Charles Traylor II officiating. Masonic rites followed with interment at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation was immediately before the service.
He was preceded on death by his parents, William Eli and Allie Mae Spillers; three brothers, Hilton, R.L. and Jackie Spillers.
Survivors include his wife, Martha A Spillers; one son, Fred Richard Spillers Jr.; three daughters, Renee Tull and husband, Hack, Lorri Weaver and husband, Todd, and Lisa Underwood and husband, Carey; one sister, Wilda Hearne; and 11 grandchildren, Amber and husband, Mark, Leah, Emma, Kent and wife, Evan, Garrett, Nathan, Connor, Hannah, Jennifer, Caleb and Trey.
Pallbearers were Kent Thurston, Delbert Wilbanks, Jim McKnight, Keith Wilbanks, Trey Tull and Garrett Franks. Honorary pallbearers were Nathan Franks, Caleb Smith, Casey McKnight, Robert Spillers, Terry Fuller and Cordell King.

Mrs. Mary Walters, 88, of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008, in West Monroe.
