The March of Dimes North Louisiana Division will host the first USSSA Sanctioned Softball Tournament, "Batting for Babies" on Saturday, June 21, at the Minden Recreation Complex.

Registration is open to teams from across North Louisiana.

Proceeds from "Batting for Babies" will benefit the March of Dimes.

"I'm proud to be part of such a fun event to ensure that every baby has a healthy start in life," said Billy Reeve, tournament organizer. "Everyone can be a champion for baby health by joining us at The Minden Recreation Complex for some fun and friendly competition."

The tournament will be sanctioned by the USSSA and is double elimination. A two homerun rule will be enforced. First through third places will win a trophy donated by Smith Petty Awards in Shreveport, and each team member of those teams will receive a Batting for Babies T-shirt.

Tournament T-shirts will be on sale for $10. General admission to the tournament is free and concessions will be provided.

The cost per team is $150, and this donation is tax deductible. Registration should be completed by 5 p.m. Thursday, June 10.

To participate, contact Kelli Strong at the March of Dimes at (318) 869-0400, or toll free at 1-866-508-2333.
